Hi Tim
Take a look a this video, the camera GPS is locked near Sambek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si8vdPL711Q
That’s the video I was writing about. Look at the GPS coordinates on the lower right and go to Google Earth and find the location. It’s 60 km from Ukraine and 20 or so North of Sambek. I agree they may be forming for an attack.
Russia has a pretty good lid on the internet. I am always suspicious of anything that is released from such regions.
All Youtube videos I saw today have 3 things in common:
1) Bad music
2) Recorded near the border with Ukraine Donetsk Oblast
3) Most of the armoured vehicles are BTRs. Wheeled APCs that can reach 90 km/h, perfect for a “blitz” war against the poorly armed Ukrainian Army.
Why so many BTRs?
Why are troops moving just in the Rostov Oblast?
Why doing “military exercices” at 10km from the border?
Some people argue that if Russian Army broke into Ukraine, that would be a disaster for Vladimir Putin. Even if the Russian Army restrain itself to just the Donestk Oblast, the guerrilla warfare will cost it dearly. But my vision is that people who think this way are too focused on American experiences on Middle East.
Iraq and Afghanistan had large stocks of weapons and ammunition when they where invaded, so the insurgents where able to make a stand. But Ukraine has underfunded is army for many years, their troops are in poor condition.
I’ve never been to Ukraine, but I take my country (Brazil) as an example. Our annual defence budget is nearly 45 billion dollars, half the Russia Federation and 20 times larger than the Ukraine budget.
Last year, a prominent army general told the public that Brazil didn’t have ammunition for an one hour war. I guess Ukraine is in the same situation or worst and Vladimir Putin knows that.
